Should I shave my Shar-pei's fur off?

I have a 6 month chinese Shar-pei, I want to shave all of his fur off because reacted badky to something now he has a mild skin rash that is making his hair fall out, I took him to the vet and the vet said it was common in shar-pei's and gave us some medication for it but his hair is falling out and is all over my house would it be ok if i just shave all of his hair off? i dont take him out side much so sunburn wouldnt be a factor he is pretty much healthy other than this. So to shave or not to shave?? Thank you for you response!!
