Do you think a Shar pei would be a good family dog?

Shar Peis or "chinese fighting dogs" are bred for fighting. Of course so are my two pit bulls and bull dog and they are the three most loving dogs in the world. If you are going to get a breed as strong willed as a Shar Pei you need to be willing to put in the time and effort to SOCIALIZE and train the puppy properly. Perhaps you should do some more research on costs of training, vet bills, ect. It sounds to me like maybe you are a bit of an inexperienced dog owner. Maybe go to your local shelter and volunteer with your children, if they aren't too young. Even if they are too young you should go to get some experience. Plus you never know you may go to the shelter ready to walk dogs one day and find a perfect match for you and your family. A dog is a dog. It doesn't matter what breed it is. If you allow it to become aggressive or jumpy or dominant then you will have a problem dog and the dog will suffer because of it. Also PLEASE GET THE DOG SPAYED OR NEUTERED IN A TIMELY MANNER!! This will prevent a male from becoming too dominant and a female from becoming too territorial. If you have any other question please send me a message. We can talk more...
