Introducing a new puppy to a older puppy?

I have a 9 month old husky. He seemed very lonely so we decided to get another puppy. We just bought a bear coat shar pei a couple days ago. Our husky is very well socialized and loves everyone, but since we brought the puppy home he has been getting defensive over his toys and food. How can i get him use to the idea of another puppy to play with?? They both will play together so i dont understand why he is that way with his food and toys. Any advice??
