Shar-pei doggie, good for me?

I went to go see this shar-pei dog, and i love her to death, and so do the 3 little kids, i currently have 3 kids living with me, are shar-peis really good family dogs, and i heard they are lazy. but i really want her. they said she was a lilac . are shar-peis good dogs?
